How iSentry works

Learning

iSentry learning iSentry learns normal behaviour by observation.

Using advanced artificial intelligence software, the iSentry program is able, via daily use, to learn the behavioural patterns of the video environment. Thus, over time, it can learn to filter out regular and expected video motion, while any unexpected and unusual behaviour is detected. It learns by observing what happens normally. No special training is required. When it sees behaviour that does not fit the category of 'normal', it can raise an alert.

The time taken for the system to learn the normal behavioural patterns for a given camera feed can vary depending on the particulars of a scene, but most often the learning process is very fast. For example, in a busy traffic scene, iSentry can learn the major patterns of behaviour within ten minutes of observation, with about observation required to detect most incidents of unusual behaviour learnt within thirty minutes. The speed with which iSentry learns make it extremely easy to install or redeploy cameras.

LIVE Alerts

iSentry alertsWhen iSentry LIVE detects any abnormal behaviour, it raises an alert. An alert can be as small as making an entry in a log file or as large as triggering a full-alarm system and alerting security staff at any location.

When an alert is triggered, iSentry will automatically record a video clip of the event and highlight the offender with a red cross. It even keeps the prior video footage in its memory so it can save a video clip that also includes the action prior to the alert. These video clips are shown to the operator to determine the appropriate response and are saved for later viewing and forensic use or transmission to other locations.

An alert can also trigger any message across a network such as an email or a direct message to a network-connected control room server.

Long Duration DVR

Long Duration DVRiSentry DVR is always recording at the highest quality level AND it stores video for up to two years.

With iSentry DVR, you can playback the video at the highest quality and see exactly what happened - even when there's no motion.

It keeps this high quality video for up to several weeks. Later, at a time configured by the user, iSentry DVR will reduce the low priority video to a format that massively reduces disk space consumption. So if you want to see something important that happened within the last week, it's all there in maximum quality. It's only after a long time has passed that iSentry DVR reduces it to maximise the effective use of Hard Disk space.

One iSentry DVR single camera unit can keep a full history for every minute of the last two years.

Where there is very little movement in the video footage, iSentry DVR reduces the video to an ultra small size. This might be one frame per 25 seconds at 320x240 in black and white. At this ultra-low level, iSentry DVR uses only 1 MB per hour. VMD systems don't even record at all, leaving big black holes in the history of the recording.

Communication

iSentry Communication In the event of an alert, a number of different communication options are possible within the framework of the iSentry system. As a default, each alert will be brought to the attention of a human operator. However, additional functions are possible, such as:
