What iSentry does
iSentry is a video analysis program that filters video footage. It discriminates normal, uninteresting video from the unusual and hence interesting video. Rather than just make this distinction based on motion, like typical Video Motion Detection systems, iSentry actually learns about the motion it sees to further filter out another 90% of the high movement video. This allows it to achieve extremely high video filter rates. VMD might let only 30% of the video get through, iSentry can reduce this even further to much less than 10%. In fact, in some cases, iSentry can filter up to 99% of all video and still catch the relevant events.
iSentry observes video footage and follows the motion of all moving objects. It learns what 'normal' behaviour is by observing these objects. iSentry will quietly observe all the video showing normal everyday motion, either freeing staff from the most inefficient part of the surveillance task (iSentry LIVE) or avoiding wasting hard disk space on the DVR (iSentry DVR). Staff only need to look at the 'interesting' video presented by iSentry.
iSentry is not a video motion detector. It is far more sophisticated. It can filter out over 90% of the uninteresting behaviour on a busy road and show only the interesting 10%. This means that fewer people are required to monitor the same number of cameras or fewer hard drives are required to record it.
